A Fundraiser for Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival

The next chapter starts now. As we gear up for the 16th edition of the Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival, we’re raising critical funds to take this world-class experience even further—expanding access, elevating artistry, and amplifying the cultural impact that defines our stage.

Jazz trumpeter, bandleader, composer, educator, and activist Sean Jones has been deeply influenced by the music and vision of Miles Davis. He has even toured with members of Davis’s band, including Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and Marcus Miller, honoring Davis’s legacy 20 years after his passing with a “Tribute to Miles” in 2011.

Since then, Jones has toured internationally with his own ensembles, served as Chair of Jazz Studies at the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University, and taken on the role of artistic director for Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra. He has shared that Davis’s 1989 album, Amandla, profoundly influenced him as a young artist and changed the course of his life. Jazz became the foundation of his life’s work. On June 23, Sean Jones and a group of supreme musicians will honor the centennial of Miles Davis’s birth.

Proceeds from this concert will benefit the Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival and education programs.
